For the year 2017, the U.S. Federal Budget has allocated more than $1.4 billion for the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI).

Future implications of nanotechnology are still a hot topic for debate amongst the world scientists. It is expected that nanotechnology will be able to create a large number of new materials and devices which will have a big range of applications that may extend from consumer products to energy production.
